If I find a hotplate at a decent price I think I may give that a shot. Otherwise I think I'm actually most tempted by the Orange Micro Dark. It sounds better to me than most of the demos I've heard of the marshall lower watt amps. Plus at £129 seems like a bargain and not too expensive a mistake if I don't get on with it.

Saying that I've just seen Andy's post about the yamaha thr10 in the other NAD thread so that has my interest! My gf might even let me keep it in the lounge if it looks like that haha.

I've had one of the Marshall 50th anniversary 1w DSL combos for a while. I like it a lot, for home use. Goes right down to 0.1w and can plug into 8 or  16 Ohm cabs. Admittedly, I changed the speaker and get most of my distorted sounds through pedals.

One went on the Fretboard for about £200 last week, so second hand ones are going pretty cheap! And Guitar Guitar are knocking them out for £379, I think.

Having said that, I'm very curious about the Micro Darks myself! Might Just have to get one at some point.
Play it like you stole it!

Here we go Tom, some THR10C stuff (and some Laney Cub):

First two youtubes I did a year or so ago. Both would have been using the Brit Blues model on the THR10C. It's kind of a bluesbreaker type thing. Ignore the knob positions you can see on the box on the second one, I can see a saved preset number lit up! I'm guessing I had the Gain and Master up full, mids at noon, bass at 9, treble at 3. In both cases the thing is recorded with my laptop, the THR is right in front of it.

All tone/voice changes are done on the guitar - both gits are probably using the same amp model, they were done within a couple of days of each other.

The Les Paul has it's original 57 and 57+ Classics before I put Stormies in.
The SG has Riff Raffs.

We've also got this, it's a fully mixed song, but the guitar parts are pretty in your face for me. There'll be some reverb, and a bit of compression:

The thread explains how the THR10C was used etc.

It also points at this song which is the Les Paul (Stormies) with my Laney Cub 12 mic'd with a 57.

I do reckon you might be interested in the Cub 12 (the Cub 10 is warmer and more "vintage" - the 12 can get dirtier than I use it). I've got this as well. This was the SG when it had MQs and the 335 with Mules in, all with the Laney mic'd the same way:
