I've heard a lot of bad things about kranks sambo, although I haven't tried them (i'm staying neutral, just giving a heads-up).

So you want to try one before buying it, lol- and try it head to head with other quality high-gain amps as well- mesa, engl, diezel, etc.

They can't have been using kranks for very long because they just haven't been around for long, so if the song you're talking about it on anything but their most recent album, it won't be krank tone. I don't think they used kranks on their latest album either, they probably got endorsed after. I think they used to use 5150's.

5150's... thats really REALLY interesting as i was considering one of them.... AND their kinda within my price range....

if thats true (that they used 5150's) then i simply have to get one....

yer ive seen a few metal bands on kerrang/skuzz using the 5150's.....

dont think theres anywhere near me that sells em tho....

ive heard a lotta people say they dont like em...

but then someone on here (cant remember who it was) said that amps have to be seen in context (might of been HTH actually?).... they said that an amp could sound great on its own and then shite in a band or the other way round- shite by itself great in a band....

maybe thats the case for the 5150.... i dunno

I think a 5150 would have to used... So you could luck out and get to try one. The biggest complaint I hear/read is there is not a clean channel.

yer would have to be second hand

yer i heard the same issues with the channels... but WFD (a guy on here) said that the 5150 II has an extra channel that solved that i think

I'm not sure if the II has another or not, but who needs cleans?  What have they ever done for anyone?    :P

Would be careful with the 5150 combo, not heard good things, besides these amps alway's sound better thru a cab, better push for the bottom end, and that's what a 5150 has shiteeloads of!

Hehe, heard posts on sites like this complaining about the Krank stuff, and honestly we have had a couple of amps that have proved a bit of a mystery, but all in all it's been a very good response, God Forbid have just had 2 for an entire UK tour and they only sang their praises! And they spilt beer all over em! You only hear the negatives, but is well worth trying out!

The Krank distortion is V cool, well worth trying, think it's in this months total guitar/guitar buyer so check out the review!

I wouldn't say it solved it. I tried a 6505+ (the new name for the 5150 MkII) and I thought the cleans on it sucked. As a matter of fact, I haven't even tried the 5150 or 6505, I can only imagine how badly the cleans suck on it if the 6505+ has "improved" cleans.

Has your budget changed at all? what kind of exact tones are you after, and how big a range of tones?

ok cheers WFD...

kool steve ill check them out, wheres sounds great based?

and dave, oh yeah lol i guess solved wasnt the right word haha.

well budget hasnt really changed at all except that i may be willing to save up for longer and therefor get more cash.

also, im having second thoughts about buying this boost pedal off willo now.... shite sorry ian mate

if im gonna be getting a new amp (which WILL happen in the near future).... then i may not need a boost pedal.... PLUS, i may need a hotplate before a pedal....

and if its an engl i buy i may not even need a boost pedal at all....

damn....
