New to the forum and looking for some 8 string Pickups

I have a Carvin DC800.  Maple neck through, ebony board, Ash body wings and a maple cap.  SS frets.  I've been thinking about the Juggernauts, Nailbombs, Emeralds, Rebel Yells, and well, anything else anyone could recommend.

The guitar is pretty bright.  They need to be tight pickups, more open sounding than compressed, and super articulate.  I play mostly progressive metal and a smattering of Jazz.

I would probably go for Miracle Man or ceramic Warpig here if the guitar is bright.  I would avoid the Emeralds and Rebel Yells, I would think that they might to be too bright for this guitar.  The others mentioned could work

Warpigs for Metal and Jazz (Alnico Bridge). Amazing for both styles, played them extensively. If you want something less compressed with enough chunk I suppose Juggs may work as well, but don't take my word for it, that's purely based on hearsay and reviews. I'd avoid the Miracle Man, that one sounds rather sterile for cleans. In any case shoot the BKP staff an E-Mail, they know their stuff

Thanks for the recommends.  I'm coming from having active pickups.  So anything will be an improvement.  The only BKPs I've played on are the Juggs.  Chunky for sure.  Cleans sounded great too.  But I didn't get to spend much time with them and not on an amp I'm very familiar with.  It was a Mesa Mark V:25.  That amp sounds pretty good in general, but I'm more of a hot rodded Marshall kind of guy.  Like Fortin or Peters amps.

I've got a Painkiller 8 on basswood and it surprised me as not-so-middy-and-bright-as-I-thought, but I won't recommend it in your case.

I agree with the Juggernauts being a good choice, but I'll also throw the Holydiver in the mix, especialy as it does split/parallel so well and works so good in bright guitars.

The Juggs sounded weird when I played them the first time.  Wooly.  But articulate.  I didn't know how to take it.  Only about 10 minutes of playing on a Misha Sig through a Mark V 25.  Right afterwards I played a Suhr.  So I think my judgement was partially my expectations and partially colored by the next guitar, and partially that amp.  Which I found to sound really compressed.

You know, I stick by my hunch of a ceramic Warpig in the bridge after reading the following post over at sevenstring dot org from someone who has one in a Carvin DC800:

My favorite pup. I'v got one in my DC800. I'v also had the 6 and 7 string versions of the pickup. (All ceramic)
If your wanting insane grinding metal, these do it. If you roll back the volume, they will do everything else. My go to pup. If i didnt play grinding ....ed up death metal though, i probably would go with something else.

I've had 3 DC800's.  All sounded really different based on the wood used.  This one is Ash wings and Maple neck, ebony board.  Sounds totally different than the all walnut one with a Maple board I used to have.  It was more compressed and narrow sounding with a huge mid range.  And louder.  This one sounds scooped and more articulate.  I'm not convinced I'll be able to get jazzy enough tones out of it.

The juggernaut neck pickups sound very jazzy and creamy when playing some single notes and leads. So, that's a great jazz pickup. The bridge is great for progressive stuff too, very responsive and chunky. You might find it a bit bassy but nothing that eq can't fix.

I play through a Randall Thrasher.  I can cut the bass befor it hits the gain stage.  I just want my low string to sound like a piano.  Pretty sure the Juggs will be the puckups.
