Just done a house clearout and came across an AXL Deluxe Player, and wondered if anyone is familiar? The body is stained and looks to initally be a 5 piece body. Does this really matter?

I've had a go, and whilst the strings are rusty and the guitar stays in tune less frequently that a deaf drunk man, it seems to be quite loud, acoustically. Is this a good sign? When I play a note, I do feel the metal in back of the body vibrate, so this could be contributing to it, but itsn't this common on Strat style guitars, and people just put foam inside?

Just curiosity to see if it's worth doing up as a home project?

EDIT: When strumming hard, the metal in the back cavity really does ring out. It's quite a high pitched noise. Kind of that ring after you hear a cymbal being hit and when it dies, there's still that high frequency. Is this common? And how would I fix it?

By 'metal in the back of the guitar' are you referring to the trem?  You might have a dodgy mount or spring somewhere

Yeah the trem. It seems to vibrate with the body, and you can really hear anf feel it when hitting the strings hard. Mainly open strings

It can happen. I had it particularly bad on one guitar. I cut a thick pad of some fabric and put it in the term cavity - no more ringing

you wouldn't use the meat knife on crusty bread but, equally, the serrated knife and straight edge knife aren't going to go through raw meat as quickly

So it's easily fixed then? Just didn't want to make this into a PartCaster if it's already only as good as fire wood

yes, very easily.

if you want to actually use the trem you'll need to be a bit careful where you put the muffling material.
