Orange Micro Dark
« on: August 23, 2016, 09:08:51 PM »
Hey! Haven't used this site in a minute.
Anyway, I have a birthday coming up friday and my dad told me he'd give me some cash toward recording gear. I was thinking of getting the Orange Micro Dark. I've seen demos and it sounds cool but what does everyone else think? Thanks.

I like the Micro Terror. A little gem for the money, so I guess the Micro Dark will deliver the goodies if you want a darker tone. In my bureau I have a Crush 20 DLX, just for quick playing along Youtube. Sounds nice when you consider it costs nearly nothing.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

Gotta try one of those. They sound really interesting. I mean, I really want the Jim Root sig to go alongside my Tiny, but especially for low volume situations, it seems pretty cool.

I even saw a band (Beardfish before they tragically split) use the regular Micro Terror live. They used it to power a 4x12" Marshall and bloody heck, I was impressed. As I talked to the guys afterwards they were too. Turns out it was the first time they used it too and really put it through its paces to make sure that they could use it as a live backup. The main criticism was that starting at drop D it was noticeably not as tight as might want it to be. Still, I did not really notice until being told. Plus the Dark must have fixed that. Also, even though it was not optimal, everyone agreed that it was a stunning piece for the price.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

Yeah I know Beartooth used the micro dark on the new album and they play in Drop C

Seen a few bands live with these micro amps and I wonder how the hell they get enough stage volume to compete with a drummer. But I'm surprised how they can match up and they can turn that master volume up to 5/6 and really get the amp cooking, resulting in a really driven pre-amp and saturation!

I have the Orange Micro Dark Terror as a practice amp, and it sounds fine for at home.

I use a Orange Dark Terror which I use for gigs and band practice.  I used my Micro Dark for a couple of practices while the main amp was in for repair,  while it sounded good through a 2 x 12 Orange cab, it wasn't a patch on the 15 watt all tube Dark Terror.
