Hey guys. I having i bit of trouble trying to keep my 7 string in tune. I've filed the  knife edges to remove any spots that might cause trouble and now i've left it to get the strings stretched again. If it hasn't worked. What else can be done and how would i do it?

buy a hipshot trem setter, did wonders when i had a trem problem.

it locks the trem in a position you like, but still allows you to do crazy trem stuff.

it also allows you to drop tune quickly with out the other string going flat and allows to go mental with the bar without going out of tune and to top it off you can rest your hand a hand on the brindge and do palm mutes withou it going sharp.

basically the tuning stabilty of a hard tale with the flexibility of a floyd rose, best of both worlds.

check them out on ebay, i got mine brand new from america for £19  :D

NO expert here, but is it binding abit at the nut?
Maybe some graphite or nut sauce is a cheap try to fix.
Also, although keep saying it's coming but not yet, there is the tremol-no.

Ahhh don't you love trems??

On Vai's site he says the trem on Evo gets replaced several times a year.....

And he's onto something I reckon!

Have you checked the pivot post studs? Might be worth replacing. New springs can help, try different gauges/brands of strings. And as Dakine said, check the nut it may not be locking properly if the clamps are worn time for new ones.

Trem setters are a last resort, I've got one on my Charvel so I can use a D-Tuna on a floating trem, works great but the trem now has a different feel.

I had to replace the trem and locking tuners on my old PRS when it was about 10 years old, it just wouldn't stay in tune and no matter what else I'd tried that was the only solution.

Oh, lube it up too my friend

Well i think i MIGHT have solved it with the filing. I gave it another file this morning and it seems to be working at the moment. Maybe with new strings it'll be fine again. Trems can be such a pain in the arse
