Few, but quality pedals. The Uberschall is for your metalriffs?
Whilst the Uberschall is certainly capable of full-on metal tones, I don't really use mine that that. I have mine set with the gain at about the 30% mark, which is a harmonically rich heavy crunch tone. I set the volume so that it's at unity gain, just adding crunch. I have the boost set for 3-4dB of gain, which is a very big volume jump going into a single channel amp.
I set my amp for edge of breakup and sculpt the final tone with the Horus; I use the Horus mostly to rein in the flab of a cranked valve amp, tighten things up, and add just a hint of growl and a bit of sparkle. (I am not concerned about low frequencies at all; that's the bass player's problem!) The Philospher's Tone adds sustain and squish and a touch of brightness as well. The DECO then adds a final stage of compression, tape saturation, darkens the tone considerably and adds a 'bump' from the tape re-emphasis circuit. (If you know how tape machines work, there are two circuits which mold the audio going before and after the tape heads which the DECO recreates)
The resultant tone is very smooth but when the Bogner is engaged, it has a very modded Marshall type of sound; very much in keeping with the Bogner tonality if you are familiar with it.
The modulation effects on the DECO are, hands down, the best I have ever heard. You can only have a maximum of two effects if you use the Favorites switch, but if you are looking for dead nuts replicas of tape chorus/flange/slap/echo, then the DECO should be at the very top of your audition list!
