Sorry, it was pretty late and I didn't really pay attention. I think the stock pickup lacks midrange, but cold swaet/MM should have more than PAF?  How is painkiller compared to something like 81? Maybe it's just me, but I think emg81 is a little thin sounding. How is C-bomb midrange compared to A-bomb if anyone has experiance with both? Is it really drastical or more subtle (sorry, could't really tell in the video).

A few years ago there was a clip of Tim playing the song 'Miracle Man' on a guitar loaded with a Miracle Man. Now that's a song that was done using EMG pickups and Tim's version was incredible. It was as tight as you'd ever need and had so much more tone that an EMG. Before things like the Black Hawk came along, the Miracle Man was the BKP alternative to an EMG but with so much more tone.

I think it's between A-bomb and C-bomb now since they are probably more versatile than MM. Why would you pick A vs C? Is C a lot tighter?

Both the A-Bomb and the C-Bomb are seen as primarily rhythm pickups but for me (personal choice I know), I'd go with the A-Bomb for the following reasons:

1) The alnico version, while not being the best lead pickup you can get, offers better leads than the C-Bomb.
2) Alnico pickups are invariably more versatile than ceramic pickups.
3) I find that alnico pickups offer better tone than ceramic.
4) Both versions are incredibly tight pickups. I've played a number of ceramic pickups that aren't as tight as the A-Bomb.
5) The A-Bomb actually seems a bit more aggressive than the C-Bomb to me.
6) Cleans are better on the A-Bomb.
7) The C-Bomb is more scooped and I prefer to have mids in my guitars.

Obviously a lot of that is my taste and your taste may be different.

I guess alnico just fits the wind better. Unless anyone has any better recommendations, it's the A-bomb ;).
