fat and funky tele pickup?
« on: April 12, 2006, 01:56:02 AM »
Hi,
I've been reading up on the tele pickups and can't decide which one to order...
I'm looking for a bridge pickup for an Esquire (single pickup version of a tele).

Ideally I'd like to be able to recreate the funky rhythm sound I get from the middle pickup on my strat, and the lead sound I get from the bridge pickup on my les paul standard.

So a nice crisp rhythm sound that will give good fat sustain with overdrive.

I suspect this is asking too much so the priority is a fruity funk rhythm sound and sustain would be a bonus.

In the absence (that I could find)  of sound clips  I'm thinking  The Boss?

Thanks
John

I think you could do it with the Piledriver. It is not what most people think - all overdrive - it has a nice drive and tone, but cleans up really well.  Tim says it is based on the original pedal steel pickups.
So many pickups, so little time

Thanks for that.
I'd come to the conclusion that the higher output of the piledriver would be more useful  and it's nice to hear that they clean up smoothly.

I'll order one.

Cheers
