Hi guys, hows it going??
I have this Charvel Fusion Deluxe and im pretty sure that the Apache single coil will match the guitars sound and the Amps sound equally. (Basswood body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard) mesa dual rectifier solo head.)
But im not sure which bridge model to go with the Apache.
COuld you guys help me?

I dont want a lot of output like , warpig ceramic or alnico, nor nailbomb. a bit less than the nailbomb.
The tone im looking for is a cross between The Organic and crunchy tone of the Hard rock, But with The tightness and articulation of todays metal.
I plan to use this guitar to play Metal , but also to study guitar and play some different styles other than death/black/thrash metal.(but i want to be still able to play them, and not get limited to hard rock or instrumental)

SO tight bass lots of bass mids, lots of Mids, and a couple of high mids, Enough bass and Highs.
Sweet and singing highs. Instead of screaming highs

Eq wise, it would be something like 6, 7, 8 . or so.

I was thinking Mule? Black Dog?!Rebel Yell?

Thanks in advance
JP

PS - i have the following sets here - blackhawks(ceramic in the bridge), warpigs(ceramic in the bridge), aftermaths, nailbomb - cold sweat.

Abraxas.  Can do everything incredibly well and splits like no one's business.  I have a ton of instrumental tracks exclusively tracked with the Abraxas - Thrash, Rock, Power, etc.  I wouldn't consider them for anything outside of Eb/Drop D tunings, as its AlNico panties will start showing themselves.

Actually you want a thick mellow tone, but tight as $%&# and the hb should match the Apache which is rather low output. That's not an easy one, considering the basswood body which needs usually something with not too much bass. So, what is the natural voice of the Charvel, because that will give us more information. I tend to recommend the Holy Diver, but this is a middy pickup with a creamy solovoice. When your guitar is quite middy by itself you will put mids into mids into a Rectifier. That could be too much.

I know my friend   It could be a Mule too, or an Abraxas (!). You don't need a high output pickup with a Rectifier.  It just comes down to the combination of guitar > super highgain Mesa and what tones the OP desires. For now I stick to my recommendation of a the Diver: a little les PAF-ish/more modern than the Abraxas but still quite organic, with good mids, not too much bass and topend. I might change that when we know a little more about the guitar.

Haha, was just spreading the seeds of my Abraxas love.  The Mule would probably do a great job here, too.

He should listen your clips, however your guitars aren't basswood, are they?

No, sir.  That would be chambered mahogany - but the Abraxas has been consistent across several wood species (for me) - ash, alder, and mahogany.  I've found the composition and construction of the neck to have more influence on the tone.  Just my exp.

Edit: I'm a bit out of it, as I'm recovering from surgery - I should have stated that I've had the Abraxas paired with an Apache in my #1 for a long time before it was replaced by the 63 (needed more brightness).

Actually the OP describes the Crawler, at least for a big part, but the bass is too soft for metal. I would not recommend the Crawler for a basswood guitar anyway. I'm afraid it turns out the be a dull sound.

Indeed.  The Crawler was probably the funnest lead pickup I've owned.  It's got all the positive aspects of the Tone Zone in that the notes really burn hard, but stays so clear and is much more dynamic.  I did find that I missed the range of the Abraxas in that particular guitar.  Damnit!  Do you realize that I have no guitars with an Abraxas in them at the moment??  I can feel another build coming along.

I'd personally sing the praises of the Mule, Riff Raff or VHII here, but with 280k pots. The extra load on the humbucker (over standard 500ks) will reduce the potentially spiky treble response in a very pleasing way while maintaining the low end tightness and wide mids, and also keep the Apache sounding at its best too. If you were to step up to the Abraxas or Crawler I think you'd find you'll want to stick to 500Ks and have a much more peaky sounding Apache as a result.

Hi guys, sorry for the late reply,
i got busy and forgot my password.
had to reset it and did a new one. Q: )

im planning on buying 3 more bare knuckle sets to complete my collection (painkiller set, Black dogs or the mule set, it will depend on which set will go on the Charvel fusion deluxe H-S. If a Mule - apache, or a black dog apache)

but im also looking into the juggernaut or ragnarok set. but ill need to try them first.

Telerocker,

I have this charvel fusion deluxe since 1998. and im still unsure of its NATURAL SOUND.
It tends to have enough highs. and lack bass and mids.
but im unsure. Q: /
in my opinion, it needs all frequencies to be boosted up a little.the highs would be the one that needs less boots.

I thought about the mule too. The user _tom_ did some very good clips in teh past of his lp with mules and i loved it
but its a LP, and its going into a super strat.
i fear that , from the EQ chart , it would lack mids. but besides of that, i thinki it will be a good idea to have a MULE Bridge- apache neck.

Ill take this opportunity to ask for a second pickup advice
These are the 2 guitars that needs New bare knuckle pickups .

We are already working The charvel , but i havent mention the Jackson RR3 (alder body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard. 22 frets. 25,5 scale length)
BRIGHT sound, doesnt seem to take ceramic pickups very well.
It works well with pickups like JB-JAZZ . bright pickups that when combined with bright woods, match. gives them balls.
Weird for me. Q: /

Nailbomb - cold sweat works on it, but its not quite matching the guitar sound. Its tuned to D standard. with 012 set of strings.

for this jackson rr3,
Bridge pickups i want a more metal oriented tone when compared to the Charvel recomendation, but still with that type of organic sound and crunchy hard rock tone to It.
Balanced EQ, no scooped mids in any way. not shrill , fuzzy, tiny, or fragmented tone. Tight and dark overal sound. tO Match the guitars tone.
Warpig ceramic bridge and warpig alnico neck, werent a good match. Q: (

For the Neck, : balanced, velvet, creamy, singing, smooth, silk, tone. Organic, Airy, But not scooped, but also not spiky mids. Just the right amount.
not that tight bass, and Beautiful singing highs.
Pristine Cleans, and articulation under high gain.

in general, for this jackson im a bit more concerned in getting the pickups to match the guitar tone .

im always using lots of gain/distortion and tuning down. you wont have any chance of seeing any of my guitars in E standard. AHAHAHAHAH
Thanks once again in advance.
