Hey guys,
I have room in my small house for one more guitar, and as my other two guitars have lower output pickups in them, I was planning on getting something at least a little bit hotter. I'm really intrigued by the Ragnaroks -- they seem to clean up exceptionally well for a high output ceramic!
This is probably the craziest idea you've heard all day if not all week. I don't really play too much metal anymore, but now and then I will turn the gain up. So anyway, I was considering an Ibanez Jiva10 as my new addition as it has a slightly thicker neck than other Ibanez's which is a requirement for me which is a mahogany body with a maple top. Has anyone ever played Zappa-esque leads on their Ragnarok? It seems like it might get that late 70s or early 80s attack that Frank had nicely which would be cool without the use of a compressor.
My primary amp currently is a '6 Super Reverb, silverface but an early one with the blackface circuit and I use a Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret when I want a Marshall-esque overdrive and a Hughes & Kettner Tube Factor when I want a more neutral overdrive. Although I plan on buying a Hughes & Kettner combo fairly soon as well, which has a lot more gain out of the box and is more in the metal territory. I would also get coil splits as they seem to split exceptionally well.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
