Hi

I've got a Schecter guitar going into a Marshall AVT 150 combo, it has a real nice sound but you have to have the volume up to a certain level to get it sounding perfect, so practicing just in my bedroom at low levels is not ideal,

this is why I'm looking into getting either a headphone mini amp or just a set of headphones to go into the amp so I can practice to my hearts content without p-ing off the neighbours.

The two mini amps I've seen are the Dean Stack-in-a-box & Rockman Guitar Ace. Both have quite poor Harmony Central ratings.

So this makes me think it would be better to just get some kind of headphones to put into the back of my amp. Anyone know if you needa special set to go into a Marshall AVT?

Any views, ideas, advice on all this?

dont think you need a special set of headphones for an AVT...

but what about hte Roland Micro Cube...?

although i would probably go for the headphone option instead of small amp... UNLESS theres a chance that you may leave your AVT anywhere else... like say a bandmates house or whatever (if you have a band i dunno) cause then a small practice amp would serve you well. if theres no chance of that happening though... then id go the headphone for the AVT route...

so is that all you need, a converter and any normal headphones. It's just id like something to be headphones rather than just a low bedroom sound.

yer, know what you mean... yer you dont need special headphones... (not that im aware of anyway....)

yer i would go with headphone option... theres no point buying a small amp when you like the tone of your marshall and just want to get that without disturbing anyone...

Hang on - is there a headphone output on an AVT150??

^there is on my avt100- you need the 1/4" jack adaptor, though, if you're planning on using "normal" headphones with those tiny jacks.

have you ever played through headphones with it?

I have the opposite adapter i need - i have the 1/4" to 1/8" adaptor and i need 1/8" to 1/4"

Can't beat a good set of headphones, and plus you can listen to CDs on them too, I do. Wouldn't be without them in fact.

I like the big ear muff style ones, in ears only really good for being less intrusive/more portable. I have some "Pro-luxe" OA-800s, but, next time I'll try some Sennheisers (sp?), since though these are good, the bass is a little brittle sounding at times.

I use my Pod 2.3 with headphones almost all the time (the rest of the time hooked up to my stereo and it still sounds good for practice), great for trying to get stuff figured out at 2am! I got a set of sennheiserd for about £30 and they sound great.

that being said, just because my 100 has them, doesn't mean the 150 does...

Those Sennheisers look really good, anyone know which will fit best for guitar amp playing?

The Eviolution series or the HDs? Theres just so much choice! Realy nice prices as well

Actually maybes the Radio RS series is the way to go so i could even stand up move around and play, without the restriction of the wires.
