Hi All,
I've just had my new pup delivered - one of the new spec holy divers, cream covers and aged. Thought you all may like a look as I think it looks fantastic - just what I was after. Thanks Tim!

A pair of those would look and sound so good in a 70's koa Mockingbird.

Looks really nice but is that strictly legit? - I thought Dimarzio had some kind of patent preventing other companies from selling uncovered double creme humbuckers (???)

Personally I say "screw Dimarzio" but it'd terrible seeing the BKP guys in hot water over this (heads up).

They try to in the US but not here in the UK.Most US winders get around it by supplying the p/up with a cover that can be removed by the user yielding, surprise, surprise a double cream. The whole patent thing is a bit of a farce especially when it relates to colour as there are so many variants.
To be honest Gibson had the first double creams so it should be them that get funny about it but Dimarzio have this funny way of thinking they've invented everything and wacking patents on them.

yeah Tim, it seems to be catching with American manufacturers - Boogie's Randall Smith is possibly the worst offender for patenting anything that's not nailed down (scared of a bit competition methinks - especially after working on a Dual Recto last week, the standard of construction was shockingly poor)

It's a shame really especially from a company who built their reputation on quality.

How much more does aging open coils cost?

By the way it looks fantastic (mmmm must get one for the bridge position on my old Tokai les paul reborn. wait, no money - bugger!)
