I can either listen to coldplay type level of heaviness, or else straight into drop-z tuned death or black metal sung in a gutteral sub-bass cookie monster voice!
LOL!
The thing is, there's loads of bands out there that you will LOVE, but you'll never hear about them.
Example - I'm a big fan of prog. Not everyone's taste, I know, but bear with me. Like most people, I thought that prog died in the 70s. For years I listened to Genesis, Floyd, Yes, King Crimson, etc. and thought, "Those were the days."
Prog didn't die in the 70s. There are at least several hundred active prog bands in the world today, and some of them are
amazing. Prog didn't die any more than the blues died, any more than jazz died. It just became unfashionable. And frankly, I listen to music because I like it, not because it's fashionable. I don't need some marketting man to point me in the "right" direction.
There must be plenty of people still doing hard rock, old school metal, whatever floats your boat.
