warpig alnico vs ceramic
« on: November 30, 2019, 07:47:21 AM »
hi
has anyone got to try a warpig on a mahogany guitar, maple top and ebony handle?  which one will be the most suitable ... alnico or ceramic?

I had a ceramic Warpig in my PRS SC245 (mahogany body and neck, maple top, rosewood fingerboard). Way too bassy and scooped for my taste, I changed it for an Abraxas and never looked back.

I see Warpigs more suitable to thin sounding guitar that you want to fatten up, so if your guitar does already sound fat and you don't need a massive wall of sound, I would look for another option. Never tried the alnico version, but I guess it should sound a bit less scooped

I wouldn't go for the warpig if I tried to emulate the sound of those bands (which maybe you aren't), I own the ceramic .
