Yes, it has a humbucker at the bridge and a single coil at the neck. I think the newer New Yorks have the 5 way switch and HSS configuration. This is one of the earlier one and your choices are: Humbucker only, neck single coil only, single coil at bridge only (coil tapped) and finally the bridge and neck single coils combined. I assume if the small mahagony body on this model tends to be top heavy than I would need a darker sounding humbucker but not muddy. I have a Roland JC-77 for sterile clean tone... more for that chorus... Music Man 210-65 or the Fender Champ 12 red knob. I use the Music Man more than the two since it has the best sound of the bunch. I do love the sound samples of the Crawler, both clean and dirty. I guess its a toss up with the Mule. Tom, do you have sound samples of the mule someplace.. in clean and dirty.
