ok, fess up.

who tried it, who has it, who loved it or who hated it.

i'm looking at the head version and i'd like to know how it holds up against marshalls of the same range (or any other amp maker)

quality, tone, reliability.

hit me!

......

if you're asking yourself, what happened to my laney, well... something is wrong with it. i dont know what and i dont have the means to check what could be wrong so its going back to the store .. got the option of waiting till they see and repair it, get a new one, money back or credit @ the store (musicstore.de) .. i'm thinking of getting the money back, cos well.. it wasnt loud enough fer me and the qualoty seems so so to begin with, soooo.. i'm toying with the idea of either getting a GH50L or an ENGL Thunder and i wanna know if the ENGL is worth the 100 euro more =P

lol about the laney.. damnit! i was riding on that review to make my decision. If quality wasnt so good i might save up myself for something better.

Cheers anyway

yea, sorry. i would LOVED to make some clips and go all out with it, but it just isnt possible. low volumes vere good, but as far as you went with the volume over 3.5 with the gain kicking into 2nd stage (around 8/10) it became unlistenable

ENGL Thunder's are great amps. Lots of low end and alot of clarity. Typical ENGL really. I'd go for it.

I've got the Screamer head which is quite similar to the Thunder.

Its great, sounds really good, very vesatile, fantastic clean, then huge distortion with more than enough gain for the heaviest death metal.

Be prepared to change the tubes in it after a few months though, Engl tubes are cr@p in the thunder/ screamer series.

After a tube change they are great.
