Broken Leg Blues..

Here is my story of woe (looking for sympathy).

I've been really looking forward to meeting a ton of you guys face to face at the London Guitar Show as I am scheduled to be helping Jonathan and Feline guitars out on their stand.

That was the plan... until I took a couple of days off to go to Blackpool and ride the Pepsi Max rollercoaster and generally scope out all the fun a single guy can have around cheep booze and so many hen parties....

The plan was going very well until a somewhat dramatic fall which has left me with a broken fibula in my right leg.

4 to 6 Bloody Weeks in a cast + 6 weeks of physiotherapy!

I've spoken to Jon at Feline and providing I can still be of some use I'm gonna move heaven and earth to get to the LGS with my crutches (at least on Saturday) and I really hope all you BKP board members can play spot the cripple and please come over and say hi.

I’ll be on the board a ton for the foreseeable future to combat my loneliness. As depression sets in I keep ya’ll posted

If any of you have been through this please let me know your tips for coping and using these damn sticks to get around - they are a nightmare!

Get a wheelchair, or at least borrow one to get to LGS then hobble around on your crutches till its time to go home

How did you do it anyway?

Hey Dave, you realise that you have no excuse now not to play all those riffs that you have wanted to nail for years. Seriously though, I hope that you are not too uncomfortable and that you have a speedy recovery.

Thanks 38th.

I know, I know... I'm making a list of all those riffs/solos that I've played sloppily for years and am setting up my workspace to nail em.

Mr Crowley/Crazytrain/Bark at the Moon... alot of Ozzy (No Zakk wah wah included for obvious reasons).

Plus I'm gonna go back over alot of theory that I've never quite applied myself to.

Hopefully if I keep a couple of commitments (LGS & Whitesnake gig) over the coming weeks I'll benefit from this enforced isolation.

Luckily I got those learn Spanish / Italian CDs/Books from the Independent newspaper the other month so my next trip (pardon the pun) to Cancun or Rome might go smoove...

Hey Dave, that sucks for you!  I know how it is though, believe me.  I've had more days of injuries and illnesses than not.  I was on crutches at one point, as well.  That was when I was at school--try going up and down crowded flights of concrete stairs every 40 minutes for a few weeks!  The crutches aren't too hard to get the hang of if they're set to the right height.

If you need some guitar-related websites, maybe we can add a bunch in this thread?  I can't say that I visit many at all these days.  Depending on what level you're at you find find something interesting at Chops From Hell (read the online columns).

Buy a couple of instructional DVDs too.  Sit on the lounge and play along; it's kinda like jamming.  Sorta.  In a sad, loney way.  ;)

Thanks Searcher, I've got a few great instructional DVDs that I'm gonna work through ASAP.

DVD has revolutionised learning for me and I think it's just the ticket for the broken limbed and isolated.

Thanks for the support.

I hear some football dude has just broken his foot and everybody is making a big thing out of it...

Wuss - who cares?

Well, the race is on to see who gets better quickest.

A) Football chap who is s'posed to be fit or
B) Tubby Afghan Yorkshireman built of nails and grit and raised on guts

Bets please...

Hmmm hard one that !

I guess the sore foot will keep Shrek away from the ladies of the night for a while.

Rumour has it he actually hurt his foot several days before but his brain only noticed it on Saturday ;)

Anyway probably very little damage done, and sets the stage for him to undergo a miricale recovery, just intime to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Shrek is another name for Wayne Rooney although not green he bears a remarkable similarity to a certain ogre (he is also known as Mr Potato Head)

He is also known for purchasing massages with a happy ending.

Love that description!

What was she called - the old boiler or summat...

Colien is nothing special but still.

I wonder why she is still with the multi-millionaire who publicly humiliated her with visits to OAP prostitutes..

Could it be the fame and money... nah never
