Snap Jonnathan, I had a stair incident the other night. I had left "Guitarist" magazine on landing at top of stairs. The Cat must have knocked it onto stairs unbeknown to me, I  was too lazy to turn on the light and was descending whilst carrying a pile of Mrs 38th CD's that I had just been putting onto Itunes for her when I slipped on the aforesaid magazine and ...well you get the idea. Much cussing and a few bruises but no other damage amazingly-so close to joining the Bareknuckle broken bones club which would have been very inconvenient as I have a lot of gigs coming up.

Sensible as always eh tom :P At least you didn't KO in someone's front garden on the way home like I did on my last encounter with the whisky...The old dear who lived there actually came out and woke me up

However, I haven't touched alcohol since that day (about a year ago) of which I am very proud :)

Jeez what is it with people on this board,

Dave / Petre although I havn't had my cornea replaced, but I did manage to gouge a chunk out of my right eye a few years ago (I slipped and the corner (the nice sharp plastic type) of a ring binder stuck into my eye). I also wacked it with a juggling club about 18 months later and spent another 4 weeks off work.

The scarring discourages me from going to the pub as if I sit in a smoky atmosphere I get an eye infection within a few hours (well about a 50% probability anyway). I think I will have a word with my GP when I'm back home in a couple of weeks and ask if a refinish is possible on my eye.

It's a hard one to judge but I think I would go for another broken limb / bone rather than another round of eye damage

As for broken legs, my mother spent 18 weeks in hospital after breaking off the crown of her femur (resulting in a partial hip replacement), and then contracting MRSA. Within 10 days of getting home she fell and broke her collar bone and humorus (pardon spelling).

Possibluy Jonathon should start a range of custom crutches.

Rob...
Goodbye London !

Kilby: I dunno how your GP would manage refinishing your eye - But Jonathan could do a good job, I'd go trans black for the cool effect

But in seriousness, that must've been really painful...I poked myself in the eye with my finger earlier, and I thought that hurt but it's nothing compared to what you lot have been through

You are Mr Silly, I mean a reference to a specialist of course.

I consider mentioning Jonathon for a HR Gieger style cornea refin. My son has always had an uncanny knack for sticking his finger into that eye (particularly bad if he hasn't had his nails cut recently). The eye was definately the most painful injury I have ever suffered (not immediately painful like breaks, the pain actually grew over the course of several hours).

Well my dear friends and fellow BKP'ers the time has come.....

I am walking again!

My cast / aircast / crutches were taken away on Thursday and I am trying to regain some strength in the leg by walking an increasing distance every day.

All I can say is that my muscles must have wasted away to a greater extent than I expected. I walk at a snails pace but I'm sure things will improve rapidly.

4 more weeks till any running or contact sport but as I dodder along like an old man I'm in no rush.

Thank you to all you guys who have taken the time to PM / post or read this thread. It has helped me get through and I am very greatful to all of you.

Now I can get on with my life and study for a major music business related interview this week - I will shout from the rooftops if I get offered the position but I'll keep it secret for the time being in case things don't work out.

Then get back over to Feline (the last place I ran to before the accident) to pimp my LP.

Thanks again and good luck to all you fellow BKP guys who seem to have also suffered from the curse of injured leg blues. PDT_002  PDT_003  PDT_002

Great to hear that you are up and about Dave. I suppose, as you say, it is the gradual process of getting the muscle tone back and the physio will no doubt assist in that area. Mrs 38th says whey powder ( what a great band name that would be- spelt differently of course) is good for building up muscle without turning you into Arnie. The woman is a walking text book.
So, it'll be spandex-clad with foot on the monitor in no time.

excellent news!! Great to hear you are up and well! Speaking of leg injuries, i finally got my appointment and they too ksome x-rays. Funny story really   . Turns out when i twisted my knee, i knocked a chunk of bone off the back of my knee-cap   . Which is why i can feel a marble-type thing in there. Anyhow i got my operation on the 1st of august to get it removed, but apparently il be fit and healthy after a week so all is well  :P .

Anyways, must feel great to be up and moving again. My muscle has also been deteriorating, but not to such an extent. Got to have some physio to sort it.

All's well that ends well eh?

Glad to hear you are out of plaster Dave.  Getting the knee to bend was the worst part for me!  It was ok for little bends but to move it more than a few degrees was really difficult at first.  I can tell you that it will all come back though.  Then you will be better than new (as long as you don't breat anything else!).

Good luck with the job.
