Yours was a very well put point and certainly not one I would wish to pass comment on, as was Kilbys. I was commenting more on some of the less objective points of views raised.

Fast shredding is another way of expressing one's passion. It didn't inspire me to play but I wouldn't call it 'cold' at all, there was lots of emotion in there. I enjoyed it very much. :)

Well emotion in music is just so subjective. I feel nothing from what he plays but technical exercise overall (not everything but most). But its totaly personal. Some will see great emotion others see nothing. Its all good hehe.

I love shredding but it's always better if it's used as part of a solo and not all of it and phrased in a way that it fits. I think Steve Vai and Joe Satriani are great at this, then if you listen to someone like Rusty Cooley its all shred and not much else. It always great to see and hear but less is more. But to get like that you have to practise it all the time and thats where i think some guys lose that balance.
