Edit: I did it.
Hey, gang. Long time! Hope this note finds you all and yours well.
I’ve been able to do a lot with the Abraxas bridge in terms of producing pretty decent metal tones. After feeling I needed a little more push for lead work, I stepped outside of the franchise and found what I was looking for in the DiMarzio Gravity Storm, which caught me off guard. Now, here I am looking for a little more once again. I think I’ve landed on the Polymath bridge.
Here’s a sample of what I have been able to do with the Abraxas and Gravity Storm:
https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/bEKbPt7VgWFxrVKF9I’m looking to push this sound a little further into the modern/contemporary spectrum. I don’t do djent, but I’m willing to take a gamble that a djenty-fresh pickup could modern metal or perhaps thrash in a more classically appointed and tuned guitar.
The guitar it’s going into is a Warmoth 25.5” scale soloist with a string through TOM, ash body/black limba cap, and a black limba neck with an ebony board. Past pickups I’ve already tried include:
-crawler
-miracle man
-juggernaut
-holy diver
-rebel yell
-vhii
Pardon the appearance of self-aggrandizing spam, but I’ve got the fever, brothers!
