I have a Tokai LP with Mules in and a TS-808 into a Fender DRRI (admittedly the DRRI isn't the standard model) the neck pup comes very, very, very bloody close to NAILING Slash, Sweet Child O Mine. Both pups are also WEEPINGLY good clean at 8 on the (guitar) volume. The harmonics are also very special.

Maybe you should go for a Mule neck and a hotter bridge?

i know this is blasphemous... but if this is specifically for Slash/G 'n' R stuff... why not get the pups he actually used? A.K.A- not BKPs???

The correct answer, of course, is: "Because Mules would be better!" :)  If only Slash knew wath he was missing .....

failing that you could always just succombe to your inner child and buy seven sets of warpigs...

I look forward to the day on which my inner child succumbs to buying Warpigs!

BKP-90's in the neck can do stunningly good slash tones, if you crank the mids on the amp a wee hair more than "usual".

I like the idea, but what would go well in the brdige?

Ideally I would like an A2 Mule in the neck and something a bit hotter A5 in the bridge.

Sorry guys but Im sure you can tell I'm a very indecisive bloke lol

So was I!

Well, what about Phil's suggestion of the Emerald bridge, Mule neck? :)

Have you got any audio of your Emerald/Mule set? I found your others in the players forum but not any from this set.

Sorry - I'm still in England, just picked up a red covered Minimat from matamp which I can't wait to use.  When I get back I will try to get something together for you.
So many pickups, so little time

you couldn't make a thread to tell us what the mimimat is like (once you get to try it for a while), could you, Phil?

that'd be awesome, I'm (half, lol) looking into one.

cheers!

That'll be great cheers!

So what does everyone think will be the best BKPs to be a (much) better sound similar to the Stock Gibson pups on Studios and Standards? Thats the 490R & 498T; Burstbucker(Pros)

Well I asked this very same question in another thread and it seems a HOLYDIVER for the bridge would be the go. I'm very happy with my neck Mule. It's fuggin awesome, so sweet for the blues lead thing. With the Holydiver in the bridge I'm hoping I can go all power chordy chuggy type thing and then (I know I can) go to the neck for less distortion and sweeter than sweet lead tones. It seems a bridge Mule is almost too sweet (for the bridge) y'know? JMHO.

Alnico V usually will do a very good Slash tone though, regardless of whatever Slash uses.

From what I've heard from the Rebel Yells (and knowing Steve Stevens tones are generally my bag) I would definitely go with them!
Real men turn their volume to 11!

Rebel Yells + Les Paul = the Ultimate Rock Pickup.
