If I'm honest, the Riff Raff bridge is better than the Epi bridge pup, but not by as much as I was expecting.

The Riff Raff neck is loads better than the Epi neck pup. No muddiness and loads more clarity.

The BKPs seem to project pick attack and the subtleties of your playing better. They capture your playing personality as well as the sound (if that makes sense?)

I'd like to try them out at our next rehearsal with a cranked amp. I think the extra clarity of the Riff Raffs will really shine then. It's not so obvious at living room levels.

think BKP's are far nicer on your epi.....same as the Crawlers blew my Gib pickups away

I noticed that aswell, the neck one was definately a more noticeable improvement than bridge, but bridge definately more usable than the Epi one. Definately a much better tone through a cranked amp than with Epi pickups though.

I think becuase the EPi pickups are Alnico V and PAF style they will sound similar. The BKPs are certainly smoother and more open. Can't wait to crank them.

I reckon I need a set of Mules for my LP Std now...

The Epi pickups sound harsh and more treblier (in a bad way) than the BKPs. That and the BKs have tons more articulation and (for want of a better word) pickup. Its like listening to two different guitars.

But the BKPs have less treble than I expected - but to me that sounds like an artifact of recording rather than the actual pup - its almost more muted. Could there be a difference in the mic to walkman?

The recording level might have been slightly different I guess, but the mic was in pretty much the same place and all the gear used was the same. I'll admit I was expecting more treble from the BKPs too, but I think they're nicely balanced as they are.

Great clips! Really good playing. The Riff Raffs really have the Angus thing going. The growl and brightness is in there. The stock Epi's sounded muddy and way too bassy in comparison. It did sound a bit thin and fizzy but I think that's because of the amp. I alway's found Laney's a bit fizzy and thin.

You could never describe my GH50L as fizzy and thin! It's got PLENTY of meat! I'd love to get it recorded "properly".

:D Sorry guys for me there`s no comparison. I played one right up against the other at the same time & you can clearly hear the difference. The Riff Raff sounded so so so much better. The scaterwinding helps bring out the treble more. This really helps with the articulation. Nice playing as well, AC/DC are one of my fav bands ever & Powerage is beyond doubt one of the finest H/M H/R albums ever !!

I agree it`s the Neck P/U that you tend to notice sounding way above all the others. But Bridge P/U`s tend to be about gain so this can help cover up a multitude of sins. No conteset for me you`ve made absolutley the right choice. Those Riff Raffs sound F***ing Great !!!! :twisted:

Just listened to the two compared, you can especially hear the difference on the chords that you let ring out at around 30 seconds, the Riff Raffs definately dont sound so harsh here, fuller and more rounded it seems.

Sounds cool and good playing too. I'm thinking you might be cliping on the recording levels?
