Hey! i was at download whole weekend. And tallica actually opened with creeping death and dont forget they played One!! Jesus chris was immense. They had all pyrotechnics that made the stage like a real battlefield with chopper noises and explosions/squibs and all sorts. Thats when the song broke in. Pretty intense performance but id have to agree that they cant capture what they used to be. For a start James doesnt put in half the feelings he used to. Rehab took away his edge big time.

As for the rest of the festival it was amazing. Evergrey put on a pretty amazing quality performance despite them being put on the fvcking Snickers skate bowl  :x   . Saw some great bands and was an amazing weekend. Shame about the riots sunday night. Lotsa people got very hurt.

Sounds like great fun. But they ripped off slayer! (who did reign in blood back to back as an encore. With real blood! Well, ok, fake blood, but we can dream. Wonder whos it would be?)

Bands playing whole albums has been done many times before
Many prog bands in the 1970s did it and Hawkwind and pink Floyd have done it a bit too.

In recent times:
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime ( see the Operation Livecrime DVD)
Dio - Holy Diver
Cheap Trick - A different studio LP every night of the tour

Phish used to get fans to vote for which complete album by another band they'd play during their Halloween shows.  I think they did this four times in the mid-90s: The Beatles "White Album" in 1994, The Who's Quadrophrenia in 1995, The Talking Heads' Remain in Light in 1996, and The Velvet Underground's Loaded in 1998. (For each of these shows, they played 3 sets, with the "cover album" being the second set.)

In a similar vein, the stupendously named Colonel Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade used to perform all of Floyd's Animals album as its second set.  They released a live recording of one performance (at the Great American Music Hall in CA, I think) as Live Frogs: Set 2.

I saw Metallica @ Tallinn on 13th

They really kicked ass! And the whole Master Of Puppets was played there also
too bad the warm up bands really sucked and Metallica played their number 2 live song (right after One ) first, Creeping Death...
but because everybody got low feelings cuz of the lame warm ups, nobody yelled "DIE! DIE! DIE!" from bottom of their hearts as they should've done
so the Creeping Death could've been better but the other set really owned

I can't say anything but it was one KICKASS gig!!

And I got very high expectations on the new 'Tallica album, so don't let me down boys :D

really? I wasnt impressed at all by their new song. I think tallica are becoming much more of an acquired taste.
And yea, i think creeping death shouldnt have really been an opener. People need to get warmed up for that kinda stuff  8)

And Dream Theater do it quite frequently, but instead of their own they play one of their favourite albums by other artists.  They've even done Master of Puppets I believe.

I havn't heard the new song, they didn't play it @ Tallinn
but it's kinda weird cuz some has said that the new song sounds great and some ppl hate it
but according to what James and Lars have said about the new album, I'm really waiting for it
