BKP Mr.Scary ?! ;)
« on: June 24, 2006, 03:21:51 PM »
no it doesn't exist, but I'd like that ;)

anyway ...
i'm into getting guitar no.4 ... whether I build it myself
or if I order it and have it custompainted(a Dean MLf ;))

so ... I've been thinking about BL's (which I already have),
Duncans, Dimarzios and EMGs ... even JM Rolphs(Mick Mars)
and now I'm curious about the BKPs :D

You see, I'm a big George Lynch fan so I've played with the thought
about putting a coil from a Duncan Distortion and a coil from a
Screamin' Demon and use it as a bridge humbucker :)

any thoughts about how that could sound ? :)

I'm going with either mahogany or swamp ash :)

Thanks.

The Miracle Man. I have one in my Kami 4, and it NAILS the Mr Scary tone.

I'm curious about the Emerald as well :)

I like low output ones(around 10-11k) with plenty of harmonics ;)
that's where my Lynch and Wylde influences come in :D

Lower output with plenty of harmonics -- the VHII.

Sorry, I have no idea what you're refering to. Are you implying that Wylde and Lynch use/used lower output pups? Historically speaking, if you want to capture that classic Lynch tone, you will need a hotter pickup than the Demon. Lynch didn't even start using the Demon until he was out of Dokken. As for Wylde ... that's what the Miracle Man is voiced for!

what I meant was that I want a pickup to be able to produce
alotta harmonics since I like to do them :)

I know Lynch used the Duncan Distortion at first :)

The names are more of a "does this sort of territory really well" statement rather than flat out description of the tone. The pickups are WAY more versatile than "sounds like Metallica". Lots of people here like the miracle man and nailbomb for all manner of shred related fun.
I would say that the Miracle Man, the Holydiver (Twilightodessy has a killer video clip of him playing an HD in a George Lynch tiger) and the Cold Sweat would all handle George Lynch very comfortably.
Cold Sweat, Nailbomb 7b, Cold Sweat 7n
