OOO what a conincidence, my old topic resurected on the same day i finally got to try out some hughes and ketter gear.
They were trying to set up a dealer ship at my local today, but there already wuite over stocked as it is, i got in just as they were packing away luckely cause seths a dude he unpacked it again and let me try out the hughes and kettner trilogy.
It is hands down an awsome amp, exceptionally versatile, as with all h & k stuff the clean channel was perfect, and the little bright switch (i think it was bright) boosted the mids and trebble a bit making it perfect for some funk noodling.
The next channel gave a real nice bluesy sound, just overdriving enough but remaining clear and articulate, and the boost button was handy for solo sections.
The Dirty channels were a bit of a let down, yeah they were nice and with a bit of tweaking at home (and matched up with a better cab) it probably would have sounded better, but it seemed a little fizzy and lacking bass (e.g. i had the bass on 10 and my neck single coil, and it didnt feel like my rib cage was going to shatter)
If your looking for an exceptionally versatile amp (thats probably why Alex Leifson - Rush, uses H&K gear) then this is definatly one worth checking out, however it's really not the amp for me, maybe for its clean channel, but then its not really worth spending £1000 plus on a clean channel. But yeah if you get to give one a spin it's definatly worth trying.
