Author Topic: Help!!!!......How to install Cold Sweats with coiltap ??? (Read 3877 times)

Hi,

I'm installing my new CS's.

For the Neck PU I have a regular volume and tone control
For the Bridge PU I have a regular volume but the tone control is
with Push/pull like this one :

It has six points for the switch. Both of my CS's has to be split.
But how do I wire them up?
As you can see in the above picture I also have to ground two of the
points on the switch

It's confusing because this is the instructions I received from Bareknuckle :

So please help me out!

By the way.....
Am I doing this correct ?
Grounding from jack -> 3-poleswitch -> toneneck -> volneck -> volbridge -> tonebridge + switch ?

The BKP schematic is correct, it's just showing one side of the p/pull.You've got 2 rows of contacts-the green/whites of each humbucker go to the middle of the three tags, ie bridge to one side, neck to the other.........then ground out the bottom tag on each side(the contact nearest the pot).

So....the Bareknuckle schematic isn't wright!

Because in that schematic the middle tag is connect to the red wire.

But I'have looked into the guitarelectronics schematic. I think this is the correct one.

I looked into the guitarelectronics schematics.

It doesn't look at all like the one I recieved from RS Guitarworks.

I also looked into the regular LP wiring schematics.

Look at how the caps are soldered in the RS Guitarworks schematics.
NV pot = Neckvolume, NT = Tonevolume, BV = Bridge volume, BT= Bridge tone

I'm a beginner at this.....this really is all very confusing to me.
I emailed RS Guitarworks with the same question....

Hmm....very frustrating...

The RS schematic is for 2 conductor wire. I am assuming you have the 4 conductor. The BK diagram is correct, it all depends where you connect to after the switch. You have the choice of shorting one coil to earth, or just taking the feed from one coil. Either will give you the same effect. If you look at some of the other wiring diagrams on Guitar Electronics you will see what is happening.

Also, most people don't ground the 3-way switch, though it does have a tag for it. One thing I can't see is a ground from the bridge or tailpiece. Do you have one?

Yes,
The schematic form RS is for 2 conductor wiring.

By 3-way swicht I assume you mean the standard PU-selector.
But my grounding scheme goes from jack -> 3-way switch -> pots
So if I do not ground the 2-way switch I have to ground the jack to the housing of one of the pots. And yes...the bridge is grouned. The groundwire is sodlered to the housing of the neckvolume pot.

But....
I have Bareknuckle PU's, Tonepros bridgde, RS components. I'm afraid too much of ruing it....So I tried.....and failed. I'll contact my regalatr guitartech to sort it out.
