Do I go chrome, or white?
« on: July 01, 2006, 09:51:56 PM »
So, It's time for my strat to get the BKP treatment, atm it's lined up for a Holydiver/Irish Tour HSS set, but I'm debating whether to get a chrome covered HD and chrome plated IT's or whether this would just look tacky and I should stick to white...

All opinions are welcome (picture of the guitar below to aid decision)

My $0.02US = all chrome.  A bit more distinctive, IMHO.  Or, for a slight contrast to the white pickguard, you might want to go with parchment.  If you go with white or parchment on the IT's, I'd either go nickel with the HD and get a mounting ring matching the IT's, or open-coil zebra.  (Egad, does that sound too much like some sort of pretentious interior designer?)  Post a pic when you get it sorted out!

The other suggestion (from one of my arty friends) is that a black scratchplate would go better with the chrome...I'm not sure, however...

I would do chrome.  Unless you want a sleeper.

I'm just photoshopping together chrome with a black pickguard - it looks pretty cool so far, I'll post it when I'm done and see what you think :)

I think you know deep down that chrome is gonna look really poor.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Black pickguard with white pickups? Not sure how that'd look and I'm too lazy to photoshop it at the minute :P I think chrome would look cr@p to be honest.

White, Chrome would be good, but white suits it more.

My (poor) attempt at photoshopping it...the chrome came out brownish, but you get the idea - I think it actually looks quite cool, and that I may go for it

I wanted something that looks a bit different from the regular strat - I was wary at getting one at first 'cause I've always thought them a bit common, and I like my individuality (ish)

Yeah that looks allright... the photoshopping was poor though   I might do a quick one just because I'm bored now.

I doubt that black knobs etc would be that expensve, so I can buy them and compare with the white ones which I already have...

But the chrome on black looks cool, so I think I'll go for that - looks better than on white anyways...If I change my mind, it's not too hard to get hold of white covers to replace the singles with so it's worth a try :)
