Irish tour neck clean clip
« on: June 04, 2005, 12:08:30 AM »
Hi to all!!!
Well, i didnīt make this clip for this purpose. Still i thought it could be a nice idea to share it here. I was jamming with my friend at home, and we decided to record ourselves. So i put a Shure condenser mic, didnīt even cared for its position, and pressed the rec button. We didnīt even play a bit to check if everything was coming ok. So we pressed rec, my friend started playing some chords and i followed along. It was 100% improvisation so i hope you  mind my mistakes!  and because we just spotted the mic somewhere, there wasnīt any mix involved or something like that, i just added some reverb to the track.
My friend was playing my semi with a 10watt solid state, park amp, i was playing my strat with the irish neck, straight to my tube amp on a clean setting. Itīs a bit long (almost 10min) and it ended up being a very quiet relaxing tune, it has sort of a jazzy vibe at the end too. I hope you donīt get bored with this one! By the way, my friend plays the chords, i do the single note lines.

It really shows how SRV/Rory Galager the Irish Tour sound, as the name suggests. Really glassy and Stratish. I'm digging it.

Overall, a pretty good improvisation. I really like the end part, where you both get a bit fired up.
I think 10 minutes ain't too shabby. It's easy to get carried away jamming, cause it feels so good, and when you're full of ideas, you wanna keep going.

What other pickups are in the guitar? I'd be interested in hearing more.

Actually, yes i do believe 10 min is pretty short,  but i think  that it could be long for someone to listen to it. Specially because i am not a master guitar player!!!
The strat is loaded with the irish set, so middle and bridge are irish tourīs.
Thank you guys for the input, i really apreciate it!!

Great melodic piece.
I am just trying to decide which BK pups I'm going to order.
I think the Irish tour just became a contender.
Keep it up.

It's a good effort, at 29 seconds in, there is a bad note though, plus it clips later on, which is a shame as you can't repair clipping audio. I like the way it builds up nicely with the improv, it's good to hear some jazz/bluesy clips.

Take it from someone who hates strat sounds and who thinks slow blues is often vastly overrated to a point where it's almost perverted:

That was AWESOME :D

Really good single coil tone (and I thought that was an oxymoron) and playing.

That was awesome  :D

I've been trying to decide what BKP's to drop into my MIJ Strat and this just sealed it for me.

I'd love to hear more.

Brilliant.  Really good tone.

When I get myself a Strat I'll put ITs in it, just so I can sound like that.
