Shipping a tube amp by car (need answer quickly)
« on: July 17, 2006, 01:05:16 PM »
I've got a tube amp with a built in reverb. It makes a rattling noise when I move the amp. I would think this is normal because of the reverb and nature of the tubes, am I correct?

We are taking my amp on a trip from CT to TN, its about 700 miles each way by highway in a SUV. Is this combo going to make it?

[evil]perhaps the tubes will break so I can get good new NOS tubes :)[/evil]

Thanks, and sorry for the OMFG LOOK HERE subject but I'm leaving in like two hours D:

As long as the amp is secure, in an even temp. the whole trip, and I would pad it some so it will be a little more secure. It is rattling due to spring reverb is my guess from what you have said, and that shouldn't hurt it any.

Make sure the amp is cold before moving it.  Warm tubes like to break.

is it valve reverb or spring? It could be the springs ratting and thats fine.
