I had a jam in Cubase tonight, well very early this morning as I can't sleep! :roll:

I used a drum beat from Groove Agent 2, some delay and reverb.

The guitar is a 1979 25th Anniversary Strat with Irish Tours.

It's kinda random as I'm just playing with Cubase now I've learnt some stuff. There's pick up changes, I can't remember where but you should here them ok.

Starts of with a bit of gain, then lots then it cleans up.

Very versatile eh? What are you using for the guitar sound, a mic'd amp or plug in? Is the drum loop from Cubase? I can't find any loops in my LE version, maybe there aren't any.

Cubase, I think I love you is how I feel now after putting myself through 232 pages of the manual! I still have that again to read as I'm only around half way through. All I can say is it's bloody incredible! :?: How are people that clever :?:

The drums are from a VST plug in called Groove Agent 2. The guitar sound is from my amp which I run through an attenuator (Koch's own loadbox II) with a built in speaker cab' sim'. It was 4 x 12 in this case with a straight mic' sim' It's got an XLR out and that goes into my E-MU 1820 sound card.

With this I just copied part of the jam into a new file in a wave editor and converted to mp3.

I should do something more composed and less random but at 1:00 am i just fancied a jam! :lol:

Now I don't understand why i didn't read the manual in the first place!! :lol:

VST plug ins?Johnny, you're sounding like a geek :) . Some great tones in there and some great chords-I found myself imagining a bass line. Not bad for a drum loop-the drummer in my band could learn from that ( good job he doesn't frequent guitar pickup forums).

I do sound a bit geeky now :lol: ! i can't find any muso's to play with so I've got to play with myself!!

Hey if you like I you could lay some bass on it! :idea: How about a drum mp3 and then send it back to me with bass? Then I might have something more to work with and we could submit it to the BKP album that's storming ahead at god speed. Better be quick though or there won't be any more room for our track cos it will be full of the other contributors tracks :lol:

I have another VST plugin called Virtual Bassist but it won't do as it's told!

Really nice tone, I didnt think you could get these kinda tones from an amp that also does awesome metal tones (I think I remember one of your older clips with insane gain :P).

I think I may be forced to get a pair of these for my strat along with something beastly for the bridge pickup :)

Oh, and great playing in the clip as well.

Hello Tom! How was your holiday? :D

I know what you mean about the other types of tones. Up until just recently I didn't have a clue what to do with Cubase except hope for the best! So I couldn't get the tones over from the amp to prove what a great amp it is. I didn't really go to town with that clip and the playing was random as it gets really! I was just experimenting with what I've learnt and that's not a great deal to be honest but its a start!

Go Miracle man for the big beasty or those Rebel Yells I've bought might be more up your Street as there more a hard rock sound with powerful mids. I'd do a clip with them but the guitar won't stay in tune! So I've made a decision about what to put them in!

I'm going to give myself a hundred lines 'I must not procrastinate in the BKP forum'! That way I'll get it! :lol:

Great tones! I'm just starting to use Cubase - it's a lot to take in at the start. I would love to hear the RY's through that set up, as I'm still in 2 minds to get them or the Mules!

That Koch just blows me away, it's killer. And that direct out records so well, very impressive. Joe's Garage is a great piece of work, and funny as hell too. :twisted:

It like a musical instrument in it's own right! 8) There's cables all over the shop at the moment and have lost the benefit of a huge room as I moved a few months back. Getting used to it now. :)

Is that the Album where 'Central Scrutinizer' comes from?
It's very funny! I'm going to have to take that one on a long car journey soon and freak people out!

That's what it's from. Interesting thing about that one is that the guitar solos are from live shows he'd recorded during previous tours. He wrote the songs and when it came time for a solo he just pushed the button on the tape machine. There's a cd set called Shut Up N' Play Yer Guitar that's pretty cool. It's just Zappa solos with drums and some bass. It's an interesting look at his style of playing. 8)

He was an incredible bloke! An imagination so vivid it must have been very crowded in there!

Interestingly enough I heard he never took a thing to come up with it all!
