Don't worry, the Cold Sweat doesn't sound anything like a Duncan Custom. The Custom makes me want to stick an ice pick in my ear drums to make the pain go away!

+1. The Cold Sweat are warm, punchy, musical sounding pickups. Whereas the  SD Custom are like nails down a chalk board. Panic over!

Too funny. Yeah Tim talked me into having a cold sweat put into the Black Machine im ordering. That and a Warpig. Theres something to be said about the owner of a company mailing you himself and describing the product in terms you can understand.

I believe he described the warpig as having " tremendous amounts of output with surgical precision and clarity". That sold it for me haha

Let me just reiterate that if you go int the bkp shop and indicate you're from U.s.A,  that 17% off that we  don't have to pay brings them down in price considerably.  Get 'em direct from BKP.  It's cheaper even w/ shipping than it is to get them from an American dealer.    Sorry American dealers. i guess ya gotta mark em up some :?   Anyway I reccomend getting them straight from Tim and tell him exactly what you wanna hear and he'll do it.   Peace             P.S that karaoke Pic says it all

Yeah, I find it funny how many Americans tend to assume they're getting a bad deal when they're paying "British" prices...when the fact is that they're usually so used to getting stuff cheap, they have issues with paying a fair amount of money for stuff

I dunno about in the 'states but for me in Canada I get the 17% off, but then when it comes to my door I have to pay 14% in tax plus brokerage or whatever so it ends up being pretty close to the same :P damn canada post!

Ok...... I did some more tests with my guitars, I have 3 LPs with EMGS
JB and Fillmores.

I have finally after test after test come down to what I seek. I want the JB solo singing sustaining openess. But I need tighter bass. The JB bass is too loose. And actually a little muddy on the very low end.

Sounds great above the 12th fret though untouchable.

Fillmores are complex but a little too vintage. EMGs are sound clipped cr@p on solos. But great on rhythm.

Keano, the "discount" is because non-UK ( and EU) buyers don't have to pay VAT ( value added tax- odd name as I don't know of a tax that adds value). The UK prices include a 17.5% mark up on the original price.

Basically, because businesses are able to claim back tax on items they've bought, it works out as being a tax on a constant fraction of the "value added" by each stage of work on a product (the fraction is different depending on the starting price of the item)...I think that's how it is anyway, I never paid much attention in economics...

I've not played the JB, and have no idea whether it's suitable, but I'm gonna tell you about the Holy Diver anyways - I got mine into my strat the other day and oh my god!

I think it (HD) would be suitable for people playing anything remotely rock or metal like, and they do a beautiful clean sound as well. I was surprised how well they handle the heavier end of the spectrum as I was expecting it to be a more rocky sort of pickup.

It does have a quite pronounced midrange, so if you like that sort of thing then yeah :)
