Both cost me nearly the same dave 'ENGL 1/2 stack' and 'Mesa', and neither were CLOSE to retail

They are sooooooooo different. Much more than I would have thought. The Mesa just articulates sooo much better. The ENGL is say a 'Hemi' and the Mesa a 'Boxer', kinda bizarre as their countries are reversed in that analargy lol.

OK, much more playing time on the Mesa and have to say (although NOT tried every amp out there, as if lol) have Marshall, obviously ENGL, Fender, Soldano, Peavey, Roland, Crate, Matamp, Cornford and more not to mind. This Mesa has to be the most versatile and sweetest amp have yet to play.
Yes it's a 1x12 combo but OMG! After ALOT of reading on Mesa it also seem's to be the brightest star (tone wise for versatility) in their range.
Loving it

^ cool, nick, thanks for the info! I have to admit, I wasn't as impressed with the little screamer when I tried it recently.

Am itching to do some clips!
Problem right now is, a. new (fast enough) laptop is still in Texas with missus. b. mum's pc is tooooooooo old/slow for it. c. need to save to get an interface (get away from the Zoom and Black Box) and mic (someone need's to buy my EB Axis :)). d. my Custom Warpig Explorer is still at 'axe health spa', lazy damn axe LOL.and Warpig SG is in Texas.

Soon though.

I Love the tone of the Mesa soooo much that have NOT had a pedal near it. Indeed I am (for first time in LOOOOOOOOOONG time) 'gas'less lol (cept for a puter with interface).

Indeed, may have to sell the Boss GT8, Zoom MRS and Black Box as not getting ANY love at all now.

Dave, found the Screamer (head anyway) is a different amp with a seperate EQ. Brings it to life as it were.

^ aye, that's a distinct possibility, nick- I think it could've been cured with a separate treble knob for the high gain modes of each channel, so yeah, that could've easily sorted it.

^yep, being frugal with the gain and using channel 3 with an EQ in the loop = much better overal nasty/crushing and responsive tone.

I know how that feels - I currently have a shopping list that totals about £800 of gear, and no guitars or amps involved...

New monitor for the PC, Processor and RAM Upgrade (AMD X2 :)) and other things of that sort...

Yeah, I thought about going Mac, but they irritate me by not being the same as Windows. I know Windows has its flaws, and breaks down a lot - but Macs are just...annoying.

And then you have to learn it all again, because people only know how to use Windows now - and then my parents gave me a PC with windows on, so ima just run with it.

But if you like your Mac thingy then go for it :)
