finally learnt the solo to this song, has been bugging me since... well, since i started playing guitar about a year ago, and since i've got the black dog fitted to my epi it sounds fookin amazin...

... and fooking loud :D:D :twisted:

If I may offer a constructive suggestion- a tad slower and more relaxed- good tone though.

i think a little slower in the riff, the original has a kind of relaxed funkiness to it, although the extra speed sounds good when the riff comes back in at the end, like a kind of manic climax! nice to see someone realising you don't need massive amounts of gain for rock.

I once started recording a metal version of this song, pinch harmonics, divebombs and everything :lol: Maybe I'll finish it one day

although i'm curious as to how that would sound, my dedication to Page's sound quite specifically forces me to say....

Slower overall CJ- loosen up a bit and you'll get it nailed nicely.

OK, just recorded a slightly slower version

i think that even still it is slightly too fast, but i played it slower, and it got a bit boring after a bit, so....

Caffine, if you cut it down then you'll find the groove! It's uptight and tence. V2 is too IMHO.

Try a swift half and listen to the original, get that groove in your head and then play, give it 10 mins then hit record.

i tried what you said, and no matter what i do (even drinking - helps me relax and get into music much easier) it still sounds the same, i think its more to do with the way i strum, as i don't usually play chords at all

Try panning the original in one speaker and recording your version in the other - then remove the original when you've finished recording. That's a surefire way of making sure it's the right speed.
