Wasn't sure what forum to post this in really, so it went here out of the way...

Basically, a guy that my dad works with is going to give me a dvd with a large number of cubase's VST Instruments on it (about 1000 i think he said) at some stage, and I was wondering if anyone else is into this whole midi instrument thing like I am and maybe wanted some of these things if they work...Beats paying the largely OTT prices cubase charge anyway :P

Just the VST instruments, or Cubase aswell? I think you need Cubase to be able to use the VST instruments, but I'm new to the program..

I have cubase already :P

But yeah, it has cubase SX (the better version to the one I have) and Wavelab v6 as well...Not holding out much hope for it to actually work though, Steinberg products are notoriously difficult to crack

Unless you have a HUGE amount of processing power and memory, I wouldn't use too many plugins (either effects or VST Instruments), as they'll affect (sic) the playback of your audio files (as well as making your PC run like an archaic 286)...

Only use the instruments you absolutely have to, same with plugin effects (the compressors don't seem to use much processing power though).

I've just got a new Dual Core PC with 2GB of RAM, so I'm hoping I'll be ok...I wanted to use them with my Midi Keyboard for the parts with instruments I can't play/don't have. Can't really go wrong since it's free, I probably woulda done more research into requirements if I was paying for it

 are you slightly drunk?

Right, these VST's don't all work...but I have isos for "The Grand", "Halion", "Cubase SX" and "Wavelab" that definitely work...and some for some non Cubase related VSTs that I haven't tried yet because I don't really understand what they're supposed to be. I think most of them are supposed to be analogue synths but I don't need that, so I'm not gonna install it...

Anything there you would want?
