Tuning Duties?

How do you guys do it? I'm not sure I want a floor-based tuner, but I'm just about to start gigging soon with my band(s) and my Gibbo has a right bit of fun getting out of tune. What do you guys use for tuning when you're playing live?

i use my PODs tuner, and if thats too much hassle, a little cr@ppy Korg thing that the other guitarist has... which ISNT fun... its definately worth getting a decent unit i think...

I have a little fender tuning pedal that came with my amp. It has two outputs, one of which when the pedal is activated doesn't sent the signal to the amp.

Works great and very reliable, it actually runs off dead batteries (seriously the ones in there are about 3 yrs old)

I think they retail about $49.99.

How does this work for you Elliot? Or anyone else who has used one? Is the tuning accurate and reliable? Can you see it onstage?

I figure they must be half-decent, I've seen Bill Frisell using one.

The intellitouch works very well - works on stage as it works on vibration in the guitar.

I got one for my acoustic because I am always flitting between standard and DADGAD - but I also use it with my electrics and it works fine, in fact its a great piece of equipment.

:D My PodXt has a floor pedal & i use the tuner on that. It`s actually really conveniant  to have a tuner on the floor. It saves an awfull lot of mucking around & its really quick & easy to use.

I have a BOSS TU2 Pedal Tuner on my pedalboard and it's 1 of the most useful pedals I've ever bought!

Like the Fender 1 mentioned above, it has 2 outputs on it. 1 of which alows sound to pass through regardless of if the tuner is being used or not, or 1 output that mutes the sound whenever the tuner is switched on.

I find it very useful to have a mute feature on it, as I use it when changing guitars live and it doesn't make a sound :)

Boss TU2. Well worth the $$. It is not in my signal chain live, I use it before I get on stage.

I reccomend the TU-2 as well. So small and bright, it's invaluable really.

I have one of these too.  I particularly like the "flat" function that helps with tuning a detuned guitar.

My TC Electronic G Major also has a built in tuner but I find it hopelessly imprecise.

I strongly recommend this  both me and my bassisst use them and there great. built like a tank, easy to see/use and true bypass!
