Well you could sell it to me for £70  :)

Seriously though, when I was looking on ebay for one I saw some of the 50w 1x12's (I think they were 1x12 anyway) going for about £350 ish I think, so maybe around there or more as its more powerful and an extra speaker..

I remember when I bought it I got it for £350 and everyone commented that it was a steal - I particularly remember HJM (where is he?) saying that it was probs worth about £100-150 more. So I'm thinking of selling for around £450?

if it's the 2203 single channel version.. it's worth a fortune.

if it's one of the dual channel 800's it's worth 350 quid..

www.musicground.com - contact them they'll give u a value for it.

single/dual channel?

Do you mean as in switchable channels? It doesn't have that, only two seperate inputs - high & low sensitivity.

The wierd thing is that the combos do generally only fetch around £350 while the head versions sometimes fetch twice that amount depending on condition and year.

It should go on ebay if you put it up for a buy it now price of £400 - maybe gamble at £450 and start it with no reserve at £395.

I guess heads are just more desirable - after all, the famous JCM800 users are typically pictured in front of a stack, not a combo...

£400 plus I reckon

i have the 2205 split channel and I love it
The 2203 is a classic as a head but to be fair the combo is killer too
You can always mount the chassis as a head - as long as you dont mind upside down writing

Well, I think I've finally been working out my own 'thing' on guitar. So, in my main band, the band I started, we play post-rock, kinda avant-garde, proggy improvised thing. Reference points would be Tortoise, Fugazi, Nels Cline, Marc Ribot and a bit of Zappa. For this, I have my amp set at a slight break up, most of the leads come from fuzzes. I don't need all the overdrive that the JCM800 can give, I would rather have a more pristine clean. Basically, I only need the next amp to get to about half the overdrive of the 800! I also want to use more textures and loops in this band, the 800 is not brilliantly receptive to this for me!

I play in another band, which is more song-oriented and has (shock) singers and stuff. The 800 is fine for this.

I've also been writing some more jazzy stuff on my own, stuff in a Bill Frisell style. I really need damn good cleans for this.

Since my drummer got a new car (a Mini) and I couldn't fit the combo in with the rest of my gear, I've been looking at upgrading to a head/half stack set up. It's also caused me to look at my sound more critically. Much as I love the 800, I just think I need something more adaptable.

Anyway, essay over! :D

Willo, sounds like you'd get on well with a 50w plexi.

hmm...I always liked the lead tones. What about the cleans? Do you think a 100W might be better for the cleans? (as in a 100W superlead)

I reckon I'm figuring about £1000 wages + the money from the 800 to get an amp and cab (if we go down that route). This is the big one - wanna make sure I get the right thing!

:D Check out Sheldon they do great sounding clean amps. The Gain on them  is that just breaking up type. The True Tone range sounds like it might be up your street.
