I heard boiled linseed oil is surposed to be quite good for sealing wood but not making it glossy or sticky

Right well the neck is sanded to 600grit and I have solved the problem about using rear bolt lock-nuts.  Also it has had one coat of Danish oil dilute with 20% white spirt to help it penatrate.

No I like the look of plain ebony fretboards with no markers. nice and clean looking I think.

Ah HA (jumps out from behind a curtain).

Well Ive done a bit more to my hallowed guitar.  Thanks to Feline guitars for the fret wire.

Unfortunatley my fretwork is not perfect as I had already oiled the neck before i started putting the frets in...bad idea.  So I will probably make a neck again that will be accurate to a gnats wots'it.

Also as you can see the body is nearly finished, but Im gonna make myself a scratchplate similar to the headstock as standard ones cost an arm and a leg.

Then Im building a Les Paul Junior for someone.
Chambered Mahogany body, similar neck to the one above except purpleheart stripe,
Semi neck-thru (not visable from the front)
SD Jazz neck and BKP RY for the bridge.

that purple heart looks tasty - is it a fairly soft wood like mahogany?

haha yea couldn't be more right... someone described it as 'maple on steroids' and thats probably the best description of it, it also splinters easily as well, and I kept taking chunks out when carving it.... it ok now tho.

HAHA! Nice, I just don't understand why you would want to look wood on something with a tremolo as well, theres hardly any wood left  :D

watching 'Bad Horsie' played live I'd say it's integral to Vai's stage persona and sound, as is an expensive wireless kit and a few grands worth of rackmount effects...
It seems humbling that Matteus Eklundh can produce even crazier noises in his music with just a Caparison, a Laney and a rifle through his childhood toybox...
Although I don't want to imagine what he did with most of it...
I too use chicken as a measurement.

Dude, that looks AWESOME!

Please PLEASE don't paint the body tho, it'd look amazing w/ a natural finish.

Oh, and how does it sound?
