I'm jealous. Of course if Tim is willing to ship pre-production model that means it's prolly close to being ready for production.

Anyway do you have any specs on these beasts?

Nick, just noticed from the pics you have the screw coil of the bridge pickup facing the neck.  A Tim recommendation or just for the hell of it  :?:
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

^ lol

eagerness to fit (wondered when someone would notice) :) nah.

Here's the deal.

Have played another guitar like this and loved it.

I asked Tim for Zebra bridge and reverse zebra neck.
Pups are fitted so BareKnuckle script would be read correct if looking from back (both same).
This way had to route the wiring under the pup too (BTW Tim, thanks for the surgical tubing but they are GREAT height as is :)). So 6 one 1/2 dozen another I guess anywho.
Anyway, thought would try it like this and as it sounds AWESOME not changing any time soon :)

So, there ya have it, mystery solved.

So, what's the painkiller like?

Is it tight grind or loose chug?
"dry" like nailbomb or "wet" like miracle man?

and what's the eq emphasis?
slow music for slow people

afraid I cannot comment on pups I don't own.
I will/have talked about other pups but only in general terms.

As compared to the Warpig/Custom Warpig;
It is VERY tight!!!!!!!!
Not owning a MM (at this point) I am loathed to make a comparrison, but would NOT say the PAINKILLER is dry.

Best desciption thus far is the NWOBHM (on steriods).

Think of a great gnarly, crunchy, punchy, precise guitar tone. Think Maiden, Judas Priest etc. I would say it is 'modern sounding' but only in the regard of an 'updated' sound. I have not tried any pedals yet but both through the ENGL and the Mesa it is puurrrfectttttttttt!

It is the tone I grew up on. Defined yet BRUTAL!
A laser guided piece of course sandpaper

More testing needs to be done but it is alot tighter than my 'pigs yet just as disturbing for small animals/children!

More to come............................

Tim mentioned a tone that made ya wanna run around the walls of a room :) He's right as usual  :P

don't have a VHII so don't really have experience to comment.

I would say I think the Custom Warpig (yes ceramic) is bigger/tighter bass, if I am reading you right.

JP, it's kinda difficult to explain.
I find it easier to use band/tone analagies as many will understand then.

Think of Hetfield CHUG with Custom Warpig, then Glenn Tipton GRIND with PAINKILLER.

BOTH are HUGE sounding pups but the Painkiller is just more New Wave Of British Heavy Metal to me (with modern tilt) whereas Custom Warpig is more Tight Thrash, no slop here, just modern HARDCORE. Many 'new' bands could use Custom 'Pig (in sound), Stone Sour, Godsmack. Kinda downtuned without downtuning if that makes sense.

Nick

hopefully clips will help :)
