Electric Sun - Beyond the Astral Skies

its pompous and overblown. theres a couple of good tracks, but i can't recommend it. Firewind and Earthquake much better.

Agreed!  I had them all when they first came out (however long ago that was!) and much preferred the earlier two albums.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

The new Radiohead album - and quite good it is too !!
Stoked it finally got released, love how they've gone in a different direction to in rainbows (despite the fact that this is an awesome album too, I just like the variety side of things).

On a separate note, listening to a playlist of butterfly effect - final conversation of kings and karnivool - sound awake.

continuing my one album a week Gary Moore appreciation.  this week it "Dirty Fingers"
it's pretty good.  apparently he complained that it wasn't properly finished and shouldn't have been released, but maybe that added to the quite raw feeling to the guitar playing.  if it had been more polished, it might not have been as good.
cry HAVOC!! and let slip the pigs of war!!!

I agree.  Two of my most favorite albums were recorded in kitchens (one of them in one take).
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

Septic Flesh- Sangreal

Not really my flavor for metal vocals, but the intro is damn perfect and the rest is solid.

Tonemonkey:  yep, big productions often sound great, but there's something about more primitive, demo-like recordings that have a realness to them.  although some things are just badly recorded and sound awful!  like the man said, there's a fine line between clever and stupid :)

as to my Gary Moore odyssey, i kinda missed a week, but this week it's After Hours.  i love Cold Day In Hell!  next one i have lined up is either G-Force or Scars, haven't decided yet
