:D Have to agree on Lizzy !

Crazy Joe note it`s the Bass guitar work on Emerald that makes the entire song work. Especially during the solo section where the two guitars are switching from one player to another. Its the Bass work that holds the whole thing together & its not a simple single bass note line either, Lynott was one of the best Bass players in a Rock context ever. Every time i work in a original band & a Bass player turns up & wants to be apart of it i ensist they must be influenced by Lynots Bass work or i simply wont have `em in the band. Lynott is the bench mark for me as a Bass player in a Rock/Metal band. Simply one of the most underrated Bass players ever as was Brian Downey on Drums.

Yeh the bass is awesome in Thin Lizzy, Phil Lynott is a legend!
And yeah i hate bass players who just play boring bass lines, i want them to do something and be noticed as much as the guitarists.

:D It`s always important for the Bass & Drums to hold it together, hence the term "Rhythm Section " Lynott succeeded in doing this brilliantly, & its for this reason all of you Rock/Metal players should be taking notice of Lynotts Bass work & Downeys Drumming. As you said not simple Bass lines but effective Lines all the same  :D

As a bassist by trade, I believe that bass and drums should be locked in tight together and for sure the bass can shine out but the best players know when to and when not to.Nothing worse than a three way attention grabbing contest. Mr Lynott was a great great player and he took bass playing in a direction that moved things on for certain. There are a handful who have done that to my knowledge and probably tons more that I am unaware of. In my band I get a couple of solo spots which is nice-I play with two great guitarists who are also very modest and appreciate the fact that they could not do what they do without the bass and drums holding it tight and funky.

In big letters, so the guitarist and drummer can read it?

The original Nena version is awesome. The lyrics seemed to make more sense than before they were translated...
