A band who don't really sound the way their name suggests.  But they do sound good.

Someone posted up a clip of theirs and I ended up buying all their albums. Awesome stuff for fans of 60s-70s hard rock (which isn't what it is, but it's what it most sounds like).

Queensryche - Queensryche. The remaining band members fronted by Todd LaTorre. F**k me sideways if it isn't Queensryche how they used to be in the glory days. The only downside is it's brevity.

Avoid the Frequency Unknown album (released just before and a not so subtle FU to the old band on the cover), Tate's version of Queensryche (basically him and hired hands). Proving that it was Tate that ruined them after he wrestled complete creative control of the band post Promised Land, turning out progressively rancid shat from then on.

That's interesting.  I haven't listened to Queensryche for many years, and when they split into two factions I pretty much wrote them off.  But now I'd like to hear the Todd LaTorre version.

I couldn't agree more. Spot on.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the "real" Queensryche in October.

Connected my recordplayer last evening and played some old singles. Suzy Quattro (48 Crash, Can the Can). The Knack ( My Sharona) and 'piece de resistance'  Brian Ferry (Let's stick together... did I really bought that one?)

I just gave Major Powers and the Lo-Fi Symphony record "We Became Monsters" a spin and I was very pleased. To me the band can best be described as Queen meets Zappa meets Muse meets Panic! At the Disco. It's guitar/piano driven rock with lots of small details and a good dose of quirky humor. Check out the opining number 93,000,000 Miles

Another album I listened to today is "Diary of a Soul Fiend" by Saint Jude. Also a good album where the music style is classic rock with lots of guitar and a few ballads as well. Check out Soul on Fire

Yeah, I will do!  I've seen the name many times but haven't investigated yet.  I'll investigate Earthride too, I see there's a Spirit Caravan connection.

I'm very much into these '70s retro bands at the moment - Graveyard, Witchcraft, Kadavar, Orchid, Ghost (although the latter don't quite fit the mould).  It's my way of pretending I like some "new" music.  :lol:
