So, it's that time of year again - the time I have a bit of spare cash lying around...

Basically, I'm looking for a guitar to whack some Rebel Yells or Warpigs in (not decided which yet), and I'm really not sure what to get.

I'm looking for something with 2 'buckers, but apart from that I'm really not fussy, so I'll just link to a few and maybe some of you knowledgeable guys can shed some light on which will suit the pickups best, and which are likely to be the best quality - so here goes:

Edwards SG The ultimate option really, but not sure I can be bothered with the hassle of shipping etc

Peavey Rotor EXP

LTD H-250

Ibanez IC400

Ibanez SZ520FM

Vintage AV1HFH

Cort KX1

Washburn X50

So, a long list just emphasises my indecision - any and all information will be helpful

Just stay away from agathis, it's a form of pine wood and to my ears sound very bad. It's just cheap and abondant, not a tone wood, and really not a guitar wood...

I'd go with the Peavey, good construction and woods, plus it looks so cool 8)

It's a synonym for plywood if you ask me ;)

Plywood, harwood, agathis, poplar (yes poplar, matches are made of poplar you know?) you name it. All those are just cheap cr@p, I don't put basswood with them because it can be usefull in a... neutral way

What kind of scale length do you like to play on? Your strat will be 25.5" as are some of the other guitars on your list but quite a few are 24.75" which you may or may not prefer. I find that the upper frets on a 24.75 are too close together but the lower frets are about right, and you can get higher guage strings without massive increases in tension. The 25.5 has better tension with lighter strings I prefer the tone but you have to stretch more when playing near the nut.

Yeah, looks very nice - and if I had the cash to hand now I'd be jumping on it - but it might be a coupla months yet - and I still have to decide whether I'm buying the guitar or some recording gear :P

I would say seriously consider the Cort. Apart from the fact they make the bodies for a ton of guitar companies, for example Ibanez, their own models are amazing value for money considering how good they are. I was always put off by the fact that they were a bit cheaper than other guitars that were lower spec, and my first reaction was "They must be cheap and flimsy". But after getting a Cort I can safely say it tops almost every guitar I have played in my local shops, and has an amazingly smooth neck. Not to say you shouldn't consider the other guitars, but I think Cort and BKs are a beastly combination.

With years I've learned to consider real facts, not hype. So for me if it gots good woods choice and feel right I'll buy it. My last guitar is a 200€ Squier, cause they decided to do some nice guitars beside their usual shites

So many good cheapy these days, far more than, let's say, 5 years ago...

My main guitar is a Cort X custom, and it is a fantastic player. The only real drawback with it is it's got one of those Floyd arms with the screw on collar, so it works itself loose after a couple of divebombs (but this is a problem with the current Jacksons as well). It's really solidly built and the neck is fantastic, and these days it's these things I look for. You've really got me thinking about a KX custom now :(

I'm thinking the extra cash for the custom might be a good idea, but still undecided as yet...And you don't need to worry about a Floyd arm working loose on it due to the fact it's a good old fixed bridge :) (I wouldn't even be considering it if it were a floyd, can't stand the things :lol: )

I'll second the gordon smith suggestion. they kick ass, especially for the price you can pick them up for. they have an explorer model too, if you're after that kind of shape (I actually haven't tried the explorer one, I've tried most of their others, though).
