don't ask why it's official, i just realised that there were a lot of these about recently :D

anyway....

i don't know if any of you crazy cats listen to the Stereophonics much, but how does he get the sorta faint-ish-muted-ish-style guitar at the beginning of Pick a Part That's New?? Is it a pedal, or just some studio magic??

also, does anybody know what pickups/pickup style does Johnny from Razorlight use?? they are the same size as humbuckers/HB-sized P90s but they don't have any screws out the top of the cover, so i can't really tell

Yeah, use your volume knob or a volume pedal (or if you're really good your picking dynamics) to make the first bit quieter.

yeh but it don't sound like that, as when i turn down mine, depending on whether i have fuzz or not, it either goes twangy (with fuzz) or just cleans up, which isn't quite what it sounds like, dunno, may just be my ears being weird ...

it sounds like the AMP turned down maybe... almost like a boost pedal has been switched on after the intro or something... i dont think theres really an effect on it...

thats my view anywho.

i think picking dynamics could work like Ben said... but then Valve amps are what bring out picking dynamics really

Sounds like some effect EQ'ing to me...if youve got an EQ pedal...maybe try taking all the mid out?
