Cliff Burton, best and only bassist for Metallica, was killed 20 years ago today.

RIP, buddy.

don't have any pics, but agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment.  a truely unique talent sorely missed.  says plenty that metallica themselves still talk about him regularly, and of course paid tribute to him on the recent tour.
cry HAVOC!! and let slip the pigs of war!!!

The man was simply a hugely talented musician, awesome bass player and the spirit of early Metallica. They went downhill for me after Cliff passed.

R.I.P. Cliff, you still rule!

I didn't even know it was the anniversary but last night I found myself wondering what would have happened if Cliff was still with us;
Would Metallica still be around? What would they sound like?

You know, he was only 24 when he died. :cry:

For anyone who's interested, I got these pics from http://www.nunnie.com/cliff-burton.html

He made me choose bass as a teenager, and I played bass in a band for a year. Good memories  :lol:
He was a truely unique bass player, if you watch cliff'em'all you'll see how weird was his right hang finger technic. It seems he was more influence by 70's prog rock than metal (listen to the bass carefully in The Call of Cthulu, genius).

not sure if this is right, but wasn't it down to cliff for those awesome epic intro's such as orion, as he was into classical music and all that.... or was that Lars?

MMM
Im sorry to be persistant...but I'm on a mission to build the most badass guitar of all time.
