They sound quite mean for only 9.2k!

How do they clean up?

amazingly clean.. they do everything from clean to blues to well they get about as heavy as you just heard which is pretty heavy..

guess it depends on the amp really, but still.

Has anyone tried a VHII with a modern high gain amp like a Mesa, Deizel or Bogner? I wonder how it holds up.

i've tried it with a Mesa, ENGL and Bogner.. and it's absolutly fine with all of them it processes high gain sounds great..

It's simply the best pickup i've ever heard i can't think of anything better, although im really impartial to the Nailbomb and Miracle Man but they're just not as sweet as the VHII...

I'm considering VHIIs in my Carvin... alder.... I have a Marshall Major with plenty of headroom in that beast...   I was thinking to go for something a little more modern... something that cleans up well and that works for a more modern mildly overdriven sound and that will split well, but now I am thinking something more open sounding because of all the stuff I've been writing in the past few days and I don't have a strat to play it on.

If you're feeling ambitious and want to make me some clean clips it would be appreciated.  Play something that could almost be played on acoustic... or could be for that matter ;)

I find single coils are mean enough sounding with Mesas.

I look forward to this. I always thought Edward got a real nice heavy sound. I'm going insane trying to figure out what I want. I got to do it right the first time i'm not rich.
