Hi All,
So I was in the fix it mood and unscrewed the 6 screws holding the head to this combo. I pulled the head out and unscrewed the fan. Anyone who owns one of these probably knows about the fans loudness.
With the fan and heat sink now unscrewed I plugged the power back in to see if the fan still made the sound. If it did, I was going to replace it with a computer fan. Anyway, I plugged the power in and hit the on button and a bright light happened and a loud pop. Now the amp dont go back on.
Nothing was touching as far as I could tell. Nothing smells burnt. I did notice the fuse on the board was burnt out. I guess that was the pop and light I saw. I am going to go to radio shack and buy another fuse, but dont want this to happen again.
Does anyone know what might have happened?
The speakers were plugged in and the master volume was on 0, but with the loud pop and light the speakers also made a read bad noise.
My last job was upgrading hardware in client and internal pc's, so I know all the basic things not to do. I'm guessing a solid state head is somewhat the same.
thanks Chris
