Anybody ever use amazon.co.uk ?
« on: October 26, 2006, 01:39:13 PM »
Anybody really but if there is anybody international that would be good?

I want to order a book and I really have no idea if they are reliable or how it works.

ie there seems to be used stuff on there as well. I assume these are from private sellers and not  actual shops.

Any help would be good.

Thanks Guys/Gals

Bought an obscure 2nd hand book from the US via amazon.co.uk, and it arrived within 6 days. I was pretty impressed with the service (but that whas a couple of years ago when I had a working credit card)

I use it all the time, very reliable and quick, though the different shops on there don't go by amazon's rules and may take longer to come though i bought something from an amazon shop and it was fine.

amazon is fine, i've only ever bought the stuff they're selling though (i.e. none of the "other sellers" stuff) and only had to get it shipped to northern ireland.

Same story here. Maybe not quite as expensive a habit, though!

I buy CDs all the time on Amazon, some of the 'other sellers' take a little longer than Amazon themselves but I've never had a no-show.

My mother's boyfriend lives in the UK.  She orders him books there all the time, and she said they're a whole lot faster than amazon.com in the US.

No problems whatsoever. I order quite a few (English language) things from amazon UK which amazon Germany don't list and it's always good service.

Living in the UK, I order from Amazon.co.uk all the time -- both from Amazon itself and from international (mostly US-based) resellers.  I rarely have problems and when I do, I've always gotten them quickly resolved.  (My fave US-based reseller on Amazon UK is "Caiman"; they've got very good service.)  I also order to the UK from Amazon US from time to time and likewise have few problems.  International purchasing and shipping is all pretty transparent these days.

I use amazon.co.uk all the time and have done for years.  But then I've been buying online since the start of the Internet shopping boom almost (started out buying CDs from US company CD Now, who were bought by Amazon a few years later), and pretty much do ALL of my shopping online now.

Hi Jp.
I order from both amazon.com and amazon.co.uk all the time.  I just got the new Free DVD and CD from .co.uk and it was shipped to the states in about 1 week.
Cheers

play.com UK and USA parts are very very good

Amazon is great aswell, they are one of the best imo... Play is better as its free postage and it doesnt have all the recommendation cr@p.. but then again Amazon remembers what you buy and emails when new stuff is about to come out which is good when you cant keep track of all the bands \ directors \ authors you like :)
