Looking to buy an amp
« on: November 03, 2006, 08:13:44 PM »
Heyo,

A couple days ago I played on a friend's Fender Chorus Amp, personally I've never heard of it, and the thing just sounded amazing. I absolutely loved the Fender cleans and the overdrive?, amaZingggggg. I couldn't stop playing on it for about an hour until he told me to stop   . I could really tell a difference from solid state/hybrids to an from an all tube. That amp really made me want to upgrade from my Vox AD30VT to an all tube Fender amp...I'm looking at:

Fender Blues Jr.
Fender Hot Rod Deville 4x10 preferably / 2-12s would work I suppose though I hear 4x10 sound better.
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe

I'm leaning towards the Deville just because it has an extra overdrive channel. What do you guys think? Anyone who played on the Deville?

so I said I wasnt gonna post on this forum but what the hell, I'm bored and have nothing better to do right now

The Deluxe is really loud (gigged in a pretty large hall with volume on 1.5-2 ish) so I can only imagine the Deville is much louder and less usable for most situations.

Wouldnt say the drive channels on the Hot Rod series are good at all, seems to be the opinion of most people as well..

I'll go back to non-posting now :)

Hey Dean,

Do you think $500 is a good deal for a used, 18 month old, Fender Hot Rod Deville 4x10? I can buy it right now for that money and pick it up about an hour away!! :P

Hell yeah man.  Blues Jr's sell new for around that if not more these days, and that's the 4x10.  Go for it! :)

Damn straight it is..... The reverb on these amps is reaaaallllyy nice. Its clean and usable without being annoying. I played through one many a time as a mate of mine has one. They are Awesome value for money.

Let us know how you go.

I would go for either a Blues Deville or Bassman, both have the overdrive channel. You could also check out the Peavey Classic 50, their version of the blues series which are also great.

I was also looking at the Peavey, but the Fender just has a best cleans and reverb. I can just put pedals on top of the Fender and sculpt the tone I want out of it. I was in heaven playing my friend's Fender and it is has the tone I've always wanted out of an amp. For the first time, I've heard my guitar's sound instead of some modelling. I just bought the Hot Rod Deville 4x10 :D  :D  and I'm getting my hands on it in a few days. I'll have to post some clips once I do get it - and definitely when I rake some cash it for a set of BKPs  :P . Good thing my BDAY is less than a month away.

Cool man. Did you check out the supersonic range from Fender? Ahhh that is lush. The clean is perfect and the Burn channel is so hot. Have fun with the Hot Rod, sweet amp
