I have to disagree with the argument of getting the laney for the istortion sound. I know it is great but have you heard the clean on the GH series? Its superb, i have chosen one over a Hiwatt Custom Classic and a Matamp, it just got that perfect sound (for me) and I will be getting a distortion pedal, a keely MT-2 which is actually perfect, lol. My bro has been running one for a while know and it just sound great, all the time too, its a monster.

Crazyjoe, we could swap amps if you want, lol. I have a Marshall DSL 50, that would cover your needs :) LOL

Also what about the GT6, is that basically the same, i noticed it has recording and it said on the GT8 video that alot of it is based on the GT6.

Get an A/B box then you can use the Laney in all its glory for overdriven tones & something else for cleans.

get another amp, a small loud solid state job will get you nice cleans and then a/b as above.

The GT-6 is not readily available now is it? And what is the price diff. to GT-8, much? As GT-8 is def. an answer to your problem.

Edit: GT8 is too expensive, cheapest i found it was £265. The ME-50 is more in my price range, so i think i'll get that. Though i might just go back to individual pedals :lol:

Dude,

You should try the Zoom G7.1ut, it's a real eye opener & £159 from GAK!! I've never been keen on Zoom gear, but this unit really floored me, it's got some great modelling and effects, I bought it just to practise with in my bedroom, but found it really usefull recording. I probably won't use it live as you can't beat individual pedals.

This unit also has a valve in it, which gives the gain sound quite a punch, give it a try. as I was going to get a GT 8, but went for this instead and saved some pennies.

Might be worth looking at a rack FX unit?

I have a G-Major which is very nice, and my 2nd guitarist has a Rocktron Intellifex.

Thesre are pure FX units though, no distortion. I prefer my distortion from a pre-amp on the whole. Plus you'd need some kind of controller pedal to switch patches.
